Dear colleagues,

We are finishing another year of our life, a particularly rich year in the life of EMLTD. This year two important facts marked our Mediterranean League. After a long period of pandemic, last June in Lisbon we resumed an in-person congress. With a good number of participants, as well as a tremendous scientific program, excellent faculty and a good number of abstracts received, ALPIC 2023 was a successful conference.

The second fact to highlight is the recently arrived new Executive Committee and the new President of EMLTD. Following the excellent work done by Alexandros Tselepis in a very difficult situation and going through difficult times, I assumed the presidency of ELTD for the next two years. I hope to be at the high level of my predecessors. An important task that will guide my mandate is to increase the visibility of the league while maintaining the prestige and success of the past.

Welcome to the new Executive Board members. Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, Croatia, Slovenia and France are the countries represented on the board confirming the multinational composition of EMLTD.

Finally, we need the support of all EMLTD members to increase our family. Please pass EMLTD to your colleagues and ask them to register. It is urgent to increase the number of members, essential to be stronger

We hope you have had a healthy and productive 2023 and we take the opportunity of our last Newsletter of 2023 to thank you for being the heart of our community! 
Here's a look back to review the most important activities of our Society this year.
In education and dissemination of last breaking information, a major aim of our Society, we must highlight

⊛ The 28th ICT biennial congress, held in June in Lisbon, where we had the
    opportunity to attend an extraordinary scientific program and enjoy meeting
    face-to-face with old friends and colleagues. The program and scientific
    presentations are available for all members on the EMLTD WEB-page.

⊛ Three remarkable WEBinars organized by our colleagues from France and
     Italy on three relevant and challenging topics such as COVID and
     Thrombosis, anti-XI/Xia anticoagulants and coronary thrombosis and distal
     embolization.

⊛  A great Workshop on “Real-World Data on Thrombosis Incidence and
     Treatment in different countries affiliated to EMLTD” that counted in the
     discussant panel with members of our Society of high international 
     recognition.
     The session was a scientific event of ALPIC-2023, an international course
     on Platelets and Thrombosis that is organized by the EMLTD Foundation
     yearly in Greece and has Prof. Alexandros Tselepis as one of its Directors.
     The session was open to all EMLTD members and will be available soon on
     the EMLTD WEB.

Communication and interaction among members of the Society is a key aspect that EMLTD wants to promote. The regular newsletter is the first initiative, but some more are planned for 2024 as:

⊛  Start an archive of publications of interest, and include comments of
      publications that you can send us. 

⊛  Give visibility through the WEB of the Society of the information that you
      send us in the area of "Thrombosis" (either international or local). 

⊛  Create a corner to make consultations and direct interaction between
      members.

In 2024, we are in the way of organizing much more activities with the aim of engaging more actively and reach out to you. Stay tuned!
